Arabians
HP Arabians is a small-scale breeding program hoping to make significant contributions to the Arabian English performance divisions. For Hannah, her start into the Arabian breed came from a unique place. How many people can say their inspiration started from a calendar?
Hannah's dad has been a longtime heavy-equipment operator for Ames Construction. Every year, the employees of Ames would get a calendar containing highlight images of both Ames Percheron horses and Cedar Ridge Arabians. The photos of the incredible facility and beautiful horses were only something a young horse crazed girl could dream of.
One of the most memorable stories from the beginnings of knowing the Arabian horse was actually with her dad on a side project from Ronnie Ames. He was sent to Argent Farm to do some excavating and asked if he could bring his daughter along for the day. Hannah spent the entire day watching the barn staff care for the show string of halter horses and immediately knew it was something she wanted to pursue.
The first Arabian Hannah was able to purchase was a 12 year old Half-Arabian mare named LA Silent Melody, for a mere $1800. She spent every possible second with her and showed in just about every discipline at Open Shows to the County Fair. They Consistently brought home High Point awards, showing everyone how truly versatile the Arabian breed is! After spending one single semester at UWRF, she knew right away college wasn't going to get her to where she wanted to be. That next summer, she joined her dad as a Heavy Equipment operator for Ames. She learned quickly why her dad was so passionate about his job. The company, built on "can-do" and "always bigger, always better" values, began to stick with everything life threw at her, including her passion for horses.
That's when the true vision of her breeding program really came together. After all, if Arabian breeding programs can thrive off of running a bulldozer for someone else, surely with enough hard work and grit, it could happen for her too, right? Hannah bred a couple of foals and knew that was what she wanted to do. It wasn't training, it wasn't a lesson, it was watching the mares and foals outside the pasture fencing and the thrill of foaling. And in just a few short years, relocating to Stillwater, Minnesota allowed her to do just that!
More years go by, and by only God's will, Hannah has acquired a very special string of broodmares and even her own stallion for her “outside the box” program. None of this would be possible without the help from other Arabian breeders that saw the potential for what Hannah was trying to accomplish. Notable lines include Hey Hallelujah, The Renaissance, A Temptation, Baskghazi, and Apaladin++, and most recently a halter bred mare by Cadence PA.
